About The Project
We are thrilled to present a project we just finished in New Brighton NSW: a stunning custom new build right on the beach. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating not just homes, but personal havens that resonate with our client’s dreams.
The Vision
When our clients Ben and Marie approached us, they had a clear dream: a beachside home in New Brighton that felt modern yet homely, perfect for their young family and their professional life. Their vision was not just a house but a home where memories would be made, and guests would feel welcome.
The Journey
Engaging and Planning
Our collaboration with Ben and Marie was more than a client-contractor relationship. Together, we selected a draftsman who aligned perfectly with our dedication to quality and detail, setting a solid foundation for the project.
Collaborative Planning
Next step involved working hand-in-hand with Ben and Marie to create the best possible plans. This phase was about effective communication, understanding their needs, and translating their ideas into practical designs.
Implementing MuskensScope™
We then implemented our MuskensScope™ process. This approach guaranteed a rapid start to the building process within 14 days, marking an efficient beginning to the construction work.
Detailed Design
We paid close attention to every detail, finalising the schedule of finishes to ensure every aspect of the home reflected the desired aesthetic. Concurrently, we crafted a detailed timeline and carefully selected the best tradies for the job.
Construction from the Ground Up
With all plans and preparations in place, we commenced the actual construction. This phase was about more than just building; it was about creating a living space that would become a part of Ben and Marie’s life story.
Custom Features and Design Considerations
This project was a collection of carefully considered features and spaces. Christo’s collaboration with the couple was extensive, covering everything from custom-built wall features and benches to a specially designed kitchen, and even minute details like shelves and doors. The house included four bathrooms, three bedrooms, a study, a kids’ room, a lounge room, and a large outdoor entertainment area.
Coastal Considerations
Building in New Brighton brought its own set of unique challenges, especially with its proximity to the coast. We had to carefully consider environmental aspects like rising sea levels and local flood regulations. Our approach was to blend innovation with practicality, ensuring that the home we built was not only beautiful to look at but also resilient and appropriate for its coastal setting.
Testimonial
“I knew very little about building a house before I started, but I was often told how challenging it can be. I’m incredibly grateful to have chosen Muskens Building Co. for this journey. Christo was exceptionally professional throughout – his attention to detail was outstanding, and he always kept us informed without overwhelming us. He balanced our decision-making process, respecting our timeline and budget, and provided honest feedback on my ideas based on his experience.
The build quality is impeccable. Despite bad weather and changing COVID restrictions, the team was reliably flexible, ensuring we stayed on schedule. I highly recommend Christo and his team!”

Overcoming Challenges
COVID-19 Restrictions
The unforeseen challenge of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdowns posed a significant risk to our timeline, especially with the closure of borders impacting the supply of materials pre-ordered from Queensland.
Structural Constraints
Another challenge was the structural requirements due to the home’s proximity to the sea. We had to creatively navigate these challenges without compromising on Ben and Marie’s initial design aspirations.
The Muskens Touch
Overcoming Supply Chain Hurdles
When we ran into trouble getting the materials we needed, we didn’t just wait around. We got creative and used our contacts and local shops to find different materials that were just as good. This smart thinking meant we could keep the project on time, even when things got tough.
Creative Structural Solutions
Building in a coastal area means you have to be careful about how you build. Our team came up with some clever ideas to make sure the house was safe and strong, but still looked great and matched what Ben and Marie wanted. We made sure their home was perfect for living by the sea.
Finalising the Dream Home
Throughout the project, constant communication and collaboration with the client ensured their vision was realised. When we were done, it was clear we had done something special. We faced a lot of challenges, but we were able to change our plans, come up with new ideas, and give them a home that was even better than they hoped for.
A Home to Remember
Looking back, there’s nothing we would have done differently. The journey with Ben and Marie was as rewarding as the outcome. Our proudest achievements? The bond we formed with them, the innovative design solutions we crafted together, and the sheer quality of the final build. Their new home in New Brighton isn’t just a structure; it’s a story of dreams realised and challenges overcome.
Final Thoughts
This project stands as a shining example of what we at Muskens Building Co. are all about: turning visions into realities, overcoming obstacles with grace, and leaving behind not just buildings, but homes filled with love, warmth, and unforgettable memories.
